Ingredients

  • 1 kg of potatoes in with skin
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 80 g of butter
  • 150 g grated Emmental cheese
  • Nutmeg
  • 500 ml milk
  • 250 ml of thick cream (+ 35% fat)
  • Salt and black pepper

Preheat the oven to 220 ° C.

Peel the potatoes and cut them into slices. Peel the garlic cloves.

Rub a platter with the garlic clove, grease the platter with butter.

Arrange the potato slices with cheese, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Repeat for layers.

In a saucepan, boil the milk with the cream. Add a little salt. Pour this mixture over the potatoes, sprinkle with pieces of butter.

Put in the oven for about 50 minutes.

Serve with roast beef, a steak, lamb chops ... You can also incorporate bacon, sun-dried tomatoes, or chicken remnants into the gratin.
